People either lift you up or drain you. I’ve often thought of this sentiment whilst categorizing people into being one way or the other. It could be friends, strangers, family, co-workers and even myself I’ve labeled in this manner. I certainly don’t intend to put people in boxes but I’ve realized that I had my focus all wrong. We are not always uplifting, and often times we are the ones draining the energy of people around us. And my intentions of putting people and myself in these two categories serves no purpose. It only exacerbates tension and unresolved situations.
I met a beautiful woman by the of name of Leika yesterday who shared more smiles and love in her words in the few minutes I spent with her. She reminded me that every moment, we have a choice in how we give our energy. May our work be not about putting people in boxes, instead be a representative of love, even if that means loving from a distance. #everydayisapractice
